WhatsApp has reportedly rolled out support for ShareChat – an Indian Social media platform where you can discover photos, videos – for both Android and iOS beta users.
Wabeatinfo spotted the feature on WhatsApp beta version and shared some screenshots. The images show that WhatsApp will have a dedicated player for ShareChat videos, which will work in the same way as it does for YouTube, Facebook or Instagram on the platform.
There will be the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for ShareChat that would enable users to watch its videos inside WhatsApp, without having to leave the app and separately open ShareChat.
The Picture-in-Picture mode currently supports Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube videos on WhatsApp, and now soon ShareChat might also join the queue.
The new ShareChat integration is reportedly under development right now for both Android and iPhone users. If you would like to try the feature on the beta app, you can install the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 184.108.40.206 and WhatsApp beta for Android 220.127.116.11.
The feature might look like this.
The PiP mode allows video playback on the pop-up floating window in individual chat and group threads. It supports playback even if users return to the home screen of their phone. The window remains active and users can browse other apps simultaneously.
Now, the Facebook-owned app is reportedly working on to bring support for ShareChat videos, which has become popular in the country lately. But, it should be noted that WhatsApp hasn’t officially announced its plans to release the feature for everyone.
