In the light of an argument over Ankara’s acquirement of Russian S-400 defence systems threatening F-35s’ supply to Turkey, relation between the two NATO allies- US and Turkey has been twisting down.
In the book “Fleet Tactics and Naval Operations” published on 15th June 2018, a scenario of altercation was published between America and Turkish fleets in the 15th chapter by the US Naval Institute. The US naval institute appoints lots of former top military brass and is the largest professional military associations in the United States. A Turkish newspaper “Yeni Safak” published this visionary conflict.
In the scenario of the book, Turkey navy sinks Greek vessels carrying missiles to Southern Cyprus, resulting in a conflict between the two countries which is depicted as ‘sworn enemies’. As per this, Turkey will attack islands of Samos, Chios, Lesbos and Kos located in the Aegean Sea.
It was mentioned further in the book that the sixth US fleet will interfere in the issue and will support Greece by taking action on Turkish troops.
The newspaper stated, “The scenario, where the 6th US Navy fleet engages the Turkish Navy, shows the start of the conflict between Athens and Ankara and the US actions, which support Greece in this conflict”.
Though in the introduction of the book, it is clearly stated that all the events are scenarios are purely fictional and represents the personal views of the author only, the Turkish newspaper stated that those who contributed in the book belongs to US naval institute and are former US top military officers.
