Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s is known for his highly controversial film, Kabir Singh. Film has completed a year of its release today. The director is now preparing up for his upcoming dark-themed venture, titled Devil. Sandeep hopes to cast Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor in the film and had given him a narration in September last year. The superstar had given a verbal nod to the director, which had led to rumours that the two were coming together for a film.
After the September chat, a Mid-Day report says, Sandeep and Ranbir had met for another narration in January. In the meanwhile, rumours were rife that Baahubali star Prabhas was being considered for the main role. However, a source mentioned in the report says that those rumours were baseless and that Ranbir has not given up on the film. The source further says that it is a dark role, which Ranbir has not attempted before but the actor wants to read the full script before signing the dotted line. His next meeting with Sandeep, the source informs, is scheduled in August.
Of the film’s content, the source says that the darkness and toxicity in Devil will be much more intense than what it was in Kabir Singh and that it is likely to garner an A certificate. “Ranbir may garner much more criticism than Shahid Kapoor did,” the source has been quoted saying.
Ranbir, it is being said, has discussed the script with his close friend, director Ayan Mukerji and the latter feels that Devil could turn out to be a career-defining film for the actor.
On the work front,Ranbir will be seen next in the films Shamshera and Brahmastra. The actor also has a Luv Ranjan directorial in his kitty, wherein he will be seen sharing screen space with Shraddha Kapoor.
