Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha starrer film Chhalaang is next in the list to skip theatres , film will get digital release. Film is directed by Hansal Mehta. According to a recent report in Deccan Chronicle, the film will skip the wait for a theatrical release and now will release directly on Amazon prime Video.
The film was announced in August 2018 and has already been delayed from its originally set release date in January 2020. Chhalaang was postponed to release in March but that couldn’t happen due to coronavirus lockdown and shutting down of theatres.
The writer of the film Aseem Arora tells the publication that the film was earlier titled Turram Khan will see Rajkummar Rao playing the role of a physical training instructor while the plot is all about sports and education. He was quoted saying, “It’s about sports and education. Rajkummar Rao is a physical training instructor in a school in a small town in Haryana. It’s about the coming-of-age of this man and how he trains the kids. He is not serious about his job initially, but one event makes him realise how sports and education should go hand-in-hand as they have the same values. These values should be instilled in every child, who will then be empowered to take on the world.”
Chhalaang will be Rajkummar’s second film after Ludo to release directly on a digital platform owing to the lockdown. A date for the OTT release of the film, however, hasn’t yet been confirmed.
