Well, it’s been a drama revolving around the Rafale Jet Deal. In order to probe the review petition filed against the rafale jet deal, honorable Supreme Court of India begin its hearing yesterday 06th of March 2019. During the hearing, the central government of India has said that the vital papers which point the rafale jet deal were stolen from the defense ministry.
The review petition filed against the court order of refusing probe into the matter of rafale jet deal on last December 2018. After hearing the response from the central government of Rafale papers stolen, Supreme Court has put off the hearing on review petition until March 14th 2019.
Experts seeing this move by the central government as the strong exception, after hearing the wordings form the advocate Prashant Bhushan read as “Secret” papers were missing from the defense sector. In addition to that, the attorney general KK Venugopal said as those missing documents might be stolen by the either former officials or by the current officials who are working in that particular sector.
On responding to that issues, the Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi who currently head the 3-judge bench on investing Rafale Jet deal has questioned the attorney general as “What have you done about it?”. Well, the question portraits what action did the central government took after came to know about the “secret” documents stolen from the defense sector.
In addition, the 3-judge bench has postponed the hearing of this review petition until 14th of March by asking government to file an affidavit over the issues of document missing and the action taken by the government.
- The current 3-judge bench includes justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph were present in the bench when the probe over the Rafale deal get dismissed by the apex court on last December 2018.
- Former Union Ministers Arun Shourie, Yashwant Sinha along with the advocate Prashant Bhushan filed the review petition in Supreme Court against the dismissal of PILs by the apex court last year.
- When opposing advocate Bhushan referred the article written in Hindu daily paper written by N Ram, the attorney general Venugopal interfered and said those writings were based upon the stolen documents.
- The most highlighting fact is so far there is no FIR has been filled regarding the documents stolen from the defense sector.
Furthermore, the attorney general venugopal has added that the daily paper Hindu has published the first article on 8th of February and on Wednesday the daily paper has published its second article in order to influence the court proceeding which is contempt of court. In addition, he also pointed that the daily paper has forget to include the world ‘Secret’ on the top of the article.
The attorney general also marked that documents which are filed for review in court were secret and classified which should not be disclosed in public and it true violation of Official Secrets Act. Also, the attorney general has pointed the recent attack by the Pakistan Air force and pressed the essential of Rafale in Indian defense.
