Actress Raashi Khanna, who was last seen in World Famous Lover, has been roped in to play the female lead in Tamil film Tughlaq Durbar. Directed by Delhi Prasad Deenadayalan, the film has Vijay Sethupathi playing the lead role. Initially, the makers had finalised Aditi Rao Hydari as the heroine. However, the actress had opted out of the film due to date issues.
RAASHI KHANNA REPLACES ADITI RAO HYDARI
Seven Screen Studios, the production house of Tughlaq Durbar took to Twitter to welcome Raashi Khanna on board. They wrote, “Happy to announce that #RaashiKhanna is playing as female lead in @VijaySethuOffl’s #TughlaqDurbar. Team #TughlaqDurbar welcomes you aboard @RaashiKhanna (sic).”

Reportedly, Raashi Khanna plays a Marwari girl in Tughlaq Durbar and she joined the film’s shoot recently. Vijay Sethupathi and Raashi had earlier worked in Sanga Thamizhan.
Tughlaq Durbar went on floors with a customary pooja early this year with Aditi Rao Hydari. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the film’s shooting was halted. Later, she walked out of the film because of date issues.
TUGHLAQ DURBAR IS A POLITICAL THRILLER
According to a press statement, Tughlaq Durbar is a political thriller. The makers of the film wrapped up 50 per cent before India went into lockdown in March. It is said that director Deenadayalan had planned to wrap up the film sometime in December 2020.
Apart from Vijay Sethupathi and Raashi Khanna, actor Parthiban is a part of the cast too. He will be sharing screen space with Sethupathi once again after their hit film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Manjima Mohan, Karunakaran and Bagavathi Perumal form the supporting cast.
