When Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra moved to New York in 2016, she was going through a very tough time. She was dealing with her breakup and also reeling from her father Dr Ashok Chopra’s death in 2013. She had isolated herself from the outside world and would only go out to shoot for her television show Quantico. She had put on almost 9 kgs while coping with her painful breakup.
Actress had harboured so much grief inside her that she fell into a depression. She couldn’t sleep at night and stayed up into the wee hours.
“When I wasn’t feeling numb, I felt lonely, sad, and isolated. No one understood what was going on inside me, because I didn’t tell anyone,” Priyanka wrote in her memoir, Unfinished, according to E! Online.
In another chapter, Priyanka recalled she had been advised in her early days to get a boob job done if she wanted to become an actress in Bollywood. Priyanka shared that the first person she met suggested that she should fix her ‘proportions’, and her then-manager agreed with the idea.
“After a few minutes of small talk, the director/producer told me to stand up and twirl for him. I did. He stared at me long and hard, assessing me, and then suggested that I get a boob job, fix my jaw, and add a little more cushioning to my butt,” she wrote in the book.
“If I wanted to be an actress, he said, ‘I’d need to have my proportions fixed’, and he knew a great doctor in LA he could send me to. My then-manager voiced his agreement with the assessment,” she added.
