In 2014, Narendra Modi won the elections from Vadodara, Gujarat. In 2014, the BJP had also held the grand road show on the day of the event. In 2018, the PM Narendra Modi promised to help the weavers of Varanasi. He added he would revive their business in the same way as he had done for the kite business in Gujarat. This year, there were rumors that Narendra Modi would opt for another temple town like Puri. However, the top BJP members have dismissed the idea.
On 25th April 2019, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi would hold a huge road show in Varanasi. On 26th April 2019, PM Narendra Modi would file in nomination papers. These would be for the Lok Sabha Elections held in Varanasi. During the event, the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP President Amit Shah, and other CMs of BJP ruled States would be present. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has selected the Varanasi to promote his own cause – Ganga Ka beta. This year, the Lok Sabha election would be held in Varanasi on 19th May.
In 2014, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, had defeated Narendra Modi. However, this time, PM Narendra Modi won over the Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi. Also, Modi won by huge majority defeating the AAP supreme and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal.
There are no candidates for the PM’s seat from the Congress or the SP-BSP-RLD alliance in Varanasi. However, there is Tej Bahadur Yadav (the BSF constable dismissed from services in 2017). After releasing the video showing soldiers offered poor quality foods, he has announced to contest independently from Varanasi. According to Yadav, people had hoped that PM Narendra Modi would end corruption after 2014 elections.
