General Pervez Musharraf – The former president of Pakistan has said that the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) which is currently lead by Masood Azhar was handled as a weapon by the Pakistan government to carry the attack against Indian citizen on its soil.
The former president in a telephonic interview to the Pakistan based Journalist Nadeem Malik, he has conveyed that he always refer JeM as a terrorist organization and welcomed by the action taken by the Indian government against the JeM. He also added that it was the same organization which carried two suicide attacks against him when he positioned as the president of Pakistan.
The entire telephonic interview was carried for nearly 2 minutes that held on 5th of March 2019 and Malik posted it in his official twitter page. In the clip, Musharraf said “This is a good move. I have always said that the JeM is a terrorist organisation and they only had carried out a suicide attack in an attempt to assassinate me. Action should be taken against them. I am happy the government is taking a tough stand against them”. For the record, Musharraf had successfully survived from the two suicide bomb attack when he positioned as a president of Pakistan.
In fact, he remembered those devastating events happened in 2003 December where a suicide bomber tried to assassinate Pervez at Jhanada Chichi located in Rawalpindi. While recalling the event he quoted as “The attacker pressed the button a few seconds too late and I had crossed the bridge by that time”.
Musharraf’s response for not taking action against JeM
On responding to the question asked by the journalist of not taking action against the terror group JeM after facing 2 suicide bomber attempts, the former president hinted that the Pakistan intelligence agencies join hands with the JeM to attack Indians on their soil.
Here are the exact wordings said by the Musharraf for that question “Those were different times. Our intelligence men were involved in a tit-for-tat between India and Pakistan. They were conducting bomb blasts in Pakistan and we were getting it done there (in India). This was continuing at that time and amid all of this, no major action was taken against the Jaish. And I also did not insist”.
Current Pakistan government lead by Imran Khan has confined Masood Azhar’s brothe Abdul Rauf Asghar and other 43 person who are linked with the terror activities from joining hands of the banned outfits of Pakistan. The current leader of Pakistan Imran Khan took the decision of confining the terrorists after attending a High-level meeting with the NAP (National Action Plan).
For the record, the action took by the Pakistan government came after 10 days of air strike carried by the Indian Air Force on the Pakistan based terror group JeM on the Pakistan soil. It is clearly noticed that the Pakistan was under severe pressure by the international community to take strict action against the terror groups on their soil.
