Bengali actress and Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan, who found herself in the middle of a major controversy over her marital status, spoke exclusively to IndiaToday.in about the questions being raised about her personal life. She stated that she had clarified her stance on the status of her marriage in the Parliament of India.
Nusrat Jahan married Nikhil Jain in Turkey on June 19, 2019, after dating for a while. They have been separated since November 2020. However, earlier this year, Nusrat revealed that her wedding with Nikhil was not valid under Indian laws. This raked up a controversy.
When asked about the controversy surrounding her marriage, Nusrat said, “They did not pay for my wedding, they did not pay for the hotel bills. I don’t have to say anything to them. I am honest. I was wrongly portrayed, and now I have clarified it.” While she didn’t take any names, Nusrat said that it is easy to blame others or show others in a bad light. She claimed that throughout the controversy, she did not pull anyone down.
Nusrat Jahan also talked about politics. She revealed that she would attend the winter session of the Parliament in November. Recently, her friend and actress Srabanti Chatterjee left the saffron camp. When asked about her thoughts on the same, Nusrat said that she would never give political advice to anyone. “I cannot give Srabanti or Yash any political advice because they do not tell me what to do politically. It’s their choice. She herself is saying that it was a bad decision.” said the Trinamool Congress MP.
Nusrat Jahan gave birth to baby boy Yishaan on August 26, 2021. Yash Dasgupta’s name was added as Yishaan’s father in the birth certificate by Nusrat.
