Bollywood actress Neena Gupta has not been the one to mince her words when it comes to speaking her mind out. And the honesty with which she answers always win hearts. The actress whose Sardar Ka Grandson released a couple of days ago has opened up on her previous relationship with Vivian Richards and how, she and her daughter, Masaba have mutual respect for each other. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Neena Gupta revealed that she would never try to poison her daughter’s mind against her father.
Neena Gupta said, “I had Masaba because I loved Vivian. And if you love somebody, you can’t hate somebody like that. You may not live or do things together – woh dheere dheere pata chalta hai (you get to know that slowly). But you can’t hate. Aisa toh nahi hota ki aaj love hai toh kal suddenly you hate (You can’t love someone one and hate them the next). And how can you put this thing in your daughter’s mind about her father? I don’t want to and don’t feel it. Why should I poison her thoughts? I have respect for him, he respects me and so, she has respect for both of us. It’s a very simple thing.”
For the unversed, Neena Gupta had Masaba out of wedlock. After Vivian Richards and her relationship ended, she raised her Masaba as a single mother. However, that did not affect their relationship. It did not mean that Masaba didn’t spend any time with her father. In fact, to the contrary, Masaba got to spend a lot of time with her father, mostly during holidays. Back in 2012, Masaba had opened up on her equation with her parents. She had told First Post, “I have deep respect and love for both my parents. They are both their own kind of people, successful and yet not running with the herd. Through the time when I was between 8 till I turned 14, I remember my holidays with my father. He was very active in commentary then, travelling the world, and he would come to India quite often. I never really stayed with him, but Mom and I would go for holidays with him.”
