After the veteran actor and Samajwadi Party leader Jaya Bachchan took a stand in the Parliament against the continuous attempt to defame the film industry, she has been at the receiving heavy criticism from the people. She had taken an indirect jibe at actor-politician Ravi Kishan who claimed that drug addiction happens in the film industry. “Jis thaali me khate hai, usi me ched karte hai,” she had said while addressing Kangana Ranaut and Kishan’s allegation that drug addiction exists in Bollywood. And while a certain section is busy trolling Bachchan for her ‘thali’ remark, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has also joined the troll bandwagon to criticise her.
Khanna was certainly not pleased with Jaya Bachchan’s choices of words and called her Rajya Sabha speech ‘ridiculous’ while slamming her in his recent interview. “If anybody feels uncomfortable of this investigation to be done for drugs, if a person like Ravi Kishan says ‘drugs chalti hai’ and then somebody says ‘jis thaali mein khaate ho usi mein ched karte hai’, it is ridiculous to say. You say whether he is right or wrong. You have not given us the food. Everyone works hard,” Mukesh Khanna was quoted as saying by Times Now.
Jaya Bachchan might have invited a lot of unwanted attention for taking a stand against those who spoke ill about the film industry, the veteran actor also garnered a huge support from the film fraternity. Actors like Taapsee Pannu, Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhasker, Sonam Kapoor and filmmaker Anubhav Sinha.
