Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’ has been waiting to release for over a year now. Directed by Rohit Shetty, it is his third film on a cop-based storyline.Due to the rise in coronavirus cases in India theatres are closed so many filmmakers has already opted for the digital path for the film release.
Recently, In an interview with Hindustan Times Akshay talked about how his shoots are in the middle of the pandemic, his COVID recovery and a lot more.
When asked about the current status of the movie ‘Sooryavanshi’ He said, “More than a year has passed since ‘Sooryavanshi’ was slated to release, so firstly, I’d like to thank all my fans from the bottom of my heart for keeping the excitement still alive. It truly means a lot to me. As you know, when the situation had started to look better, the team had decided to release the film earlier in April, this year, but that plan got foiled as well. Whenever something isn’t going as planned, my mother usually says, ‘Fikar na kari puttar, ismein bhi kuch acha hi hona hai.’ Over the years, I’ve started to believe it. Let’s see, maybe we will be lucky the third time.
In reference to COVID-19, films can either opt for a direct OTT release, simultaneous theatrical & OTT release, or OTT release in 14 days after theatrical release. However, Rohit Shetty has never been in favour of the OTT release, so the film seems to be stuck in a major dilemma.
As far as the upcoming projects are concerned, Akshay will be seen in Ranjit M Tewari’s theatrical release ‘Bell Bottom’ for his next which was shot in the middle of the pandemic and is currently shooting for ‘Rakshabandhan’ with Bhumi Pednekar.
