A lady constable’s transfer for stopping a Gujarat MLA’s son and his two friends – who were driving around in Surat during restricted hours on Wednesday – has become a subject of controversy. The matter is being seen as police succumbing to political pressure.
Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu, who is known for voicing her opinions on issues that concern the society, took to her Twitter account to react to the incident. The Saand Ki Aankh star was at her sarcastic best as she wrote, “Coz we have stopped making films lately, reality is compensating for us.”

It so happened that Prakash Kanani, son of Varachha Road MLA and Minister of State for Health, Kumar Kanani, and his friends had an argument with constable Sunita Yadav after the latter pointed out that they were out during curfew hours and were not wearing face masks. After the incident, the cop was transferred to the police headquarters. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered.
