Over 150 people have lost their lives and over 150 are missing following a massive flood near a power project at Reni village in Joshimath area of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Sunday.
The ITBP and SDRF teams were dispatched to the affected sites to rescue the villagers and locals.
ITBP rescues all 16 people trapped in tunnel
During a rescue operatioin, the ITBP rescued all 16 people who were trapped in the tunnel near Tapovan, Chamoli.

At least nine bodies have been recovered from the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) site in the Tapovan area following the glacier burst in the Chamoli district.

A 30-bed hospital has been created in Joshimath. CMO Chamoli, is supervising the medical team at Tapovan. Meanwhile, the Srinagar Medical College AIIMS Rishikesh and Jolly Grant Hospital have been kept on high alert as rescue operations are underway.
After a part of the Nanda Devi glacier broke off, massive flood was witnessed in Dhauliganga near Reni village, where many river bankside houses were flooded.
Reports suggest that close to 150 workers were at the power plant site. So far, 9-10 bodies have been recovered from the river.
