More often than not, we ignore the pre-flight announcements and assume we have heard it all before. However, a pilot’s message caught everyone’s attention on a IndiGo flight, after the captain made the announcement in Bhojpuri.
The viral video shows the Patna-bound Indigo flight’s captain welcoming all the passengers onboard in Bhojpuri. The language is spoken mainly in Bihar and other states including Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
@aakharbhojpuri pic.twitter.com/u1o2oDivJ4

While in-flight announcements are usually done in Hindi along with English, this was a refreshing change.
“We, the Indigo family welcome you all…captain Prateek is in cockpit…Marsi..Sonika, Yashee and Komal are in-charge of the crew,” the pilot is heard announcing.
“The flight is not fully loaded. There is less passenger on this route due to Diwali and Chatth puja. Passengers are more on the returning route,” he went ahead to explain.
He asked the passengers if they were able to understand his Bhojpuri well, asking if they wanted him to translate the announcement into Hindi. He further said that while the state of Bihar had several languages, including Maithili and Maghim, he only knew Bhojpuri, hence was making the announcement in the language.
The video has gone viral on social media since being uploaded by a passenger, receiving over 52,000 views till date. The thoughtful move by the crew has left people delighted.
