Mental health of a person has always been a topic which is widely discussed. After the sudden demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput , the discussion has gained momentum. Sushant died by suicide on June 14 and was suffering from depression. Every now and then, we see celebs talking about mental health and emphasising on speaking up about the issues that affect us mentally. Deepika Padukone, who herself has battled with depression, has taken to social media to target topics around mental health and is spreading awareness towards the same.
After the Sushant’s sudden demise, Deepika takes to her Insta stories to bust myths around mental health. Recently, she along with experts got into the discussion around suicide, mental health, and misconceptions around it. Recently, the actress shared the video from the discussion and it started with the message Understanding Suicide: Why People Do. What They Do.
Deepika captioned the video as “#SuicidePrevention While I embarked on this journey more than 5 years ago, recent tragic events have made us all realise that now more than ever, we need to prioritize mental health and intensify our focus on #SuicidePrevention.” In the video, Deepika can be seen asking the experts about the mindset behind the people who commit suicide.

Earlier, Deepika shared a note emphasizing on ‘you are not alone’. The same can be read as “As a person who has had a lived experience with mental illness, I cannot stress enough about the importance of reaching out. Talk. Communicate. Express. Seek help. Remember, You are not alone. We are in this together. And most importantly, there is hope.”
