Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, on Tuesday, slams China’s annual dog meat festival which began this week in the Yulin city amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Anushka, who had always raise her voice against animal cruelty, questioned the controversial practice of celebrating the dog meat festival, which is currently facing a lot of criticism from animal rights activists.
The notorious festival has kicked off in Yulin city of Guangxi Zhuang at a time when the Chinese government is keen on discouraging the consumption of wildlife and pet animals owing to health reasons. Expressing her anger against the act of killing pet animals, Anushka took to Instagram and shared the news about the Yulin festival. “What will it take for them to learn?,” the Bollywood actress captioned her post on Instagram stories.
Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan’s latest Instagram upload also spotlights his concern for the welfare of animals as the actor castigated the ongoing festival. “Har saal Dil Todte hain yeh Yulin Festival waale (every year, these Yulin Festival people break my heart) #StopYulin #YulinKMKB,” the actor wrote in a note on social media.
Actor shared his post to condemn the controversial practice of celebrating the festival, which involves consumption of dog meat. In his post, the Pati Patni Aur Woh actor can be seen playing with his pet dogs as he poses for a candid picture.
Kartik’s post has become the talk of the town on social media and celebrities including the likes of Anushka, Bhumi Pednekar have backed the actor for raising his voice against animal cruelty. “You are looking straight out of your first film Pyaar ka Panchnama 1 .. fresh and super young,” ace couturier Manish Malhotra hailed the actor in the comments section. Kartik’s post has garnered over a million likes on the photo and video-sharing platform.
