Government proposes 200 cr Joint venture with Tamil Nadu for Water supply

As water is the main concern in the southern state of India Tamil Nadu, especially in the metropolitan city Chennai, the central union minister for shipping Mr. Nitin Gadkari has proposed a new plan of interconnecting the state water bodies from Kanyakumari to Chennai. He also added that the central government if keen on implementing the inland water supplies by interconnecting the all the rivers of the states.

Mr. Nitin Gadkari’s Proposal

The union shipping ministry Mr. Nitin Gadkari yesterday proposed of setting a new plan for water transportation from the district Kanyakumari to the state capital Chennai with the joint venture of state government of Tamil Nadu and with the union shipping ministry. He also added that the cost for the water transportation project would be around Rs. 200 Crore.

While being at the inaugurating new facilities and features at the Kamarajar Port in Chennai, Mr. Nitin Gadkari announced the proposal made by the Union shipping ministry with the TN state government. The entire water transportation plan came to highlight in a bid of utilizing the existing sea routes which connects the different coastal cities. He added that this ferry service of water transportation might be extended from Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari to Chennai. Also Mr. Gadkari conveyed that the ferry service might go up to the Goa and Mumbai upon the deflects of interest.


Compensation for Ennore Fishermen

During the inauguration event, Mr. Nitin Gadkari announced that reliable compensation will be offered by the insurance companies in next 10 days for the fishermen who are affected because of the oil leakage from the vessel at Ennore port few months before.  Well, it seems like the central government is started to respond to the state fisheries minister D Jayakumar’s demand on offering compensation to the affected fishermen that marked to around Rs. 200 crore.
