Amazon prime comes to India; 60 day free trial


On 26th July announced the launch of its Amazon Prime membership program in India, which is popular globally. This membership facility allows customers over 1000 cities to avail free and unlimited one-day and two-day delivery of the products.

Amazon India has said that they have launched the Amazon Prime program in over 100 cities of India. The membership program will run as a trial for 60 days. In this period the members will be able to use Amazon Prime and its benefits for free.

Benefits provided to Prime members

Under this membership program, the members of Amazon Prime will be able to purchase Lightning Deals 30 minutes earlier than others on every single day. The members will also have exclusive opportunities to avail exclusive deals of different brands. And of course the members will be offered free, fast and customized delivery service.

Another facility that the Prime members will get is that, they can opt for a same-day or a next morning delivery, or a scheduled delivery for more than 10000 products. This offer will be available for 20 cities in India. And for the other cities the members will be provided with one or two day delivery and free delivery without any criteria of minimum order.

Once the trial period is over Amazon Prime will be offered at a price of Rs.499 in a year. This will be the subscription fee that the members have to pay every year. This is an introductory offer that Amazon is giving, as the original subscription price is Rs.999. And the 60 days free use is a promotional offer, which can be availed by people who are signing up immediately. Usually Amazon has been giving a trial period of 30 day, but for India the free trial period has been increased to 60 days. The Amazon members who do not sign up for Amazon Prime cannot avail for quick delivery or any other facility that is available for Prime members.

Amazon has also made certain modifications and enhancement to its mobile app and website. This will help Amazon members in opting for Prime membership and in choosing and buying Prime products. There will also be a Prime filter available in the app and website.

With the launch of Amazon Prime the company is expecting a fair amount of rise in the purchases made on Amazon and an increase in customer loyalty. The Prime products will be delivered by Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) channel.
