1. Meiji Shrine

This shrine which was built in the year 1920 is dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. It is located adjacent to the Yoyogi Park which is a large forested area, within the dense city. The shrine offers its visitors a great tranquillity from the sights and sounds of the city.

2. Senso-ji Temple

It is an ancient Buddhist temple and most significant in Tokyo. Built in 645, the temple is to represent the goddess of mercy, Kannon. It is one of the most colourful and popular temple in Tokyo. From the temple’s first gate of entrance till the second gate, the 200m street is filled with shops selling Japanese souvenir items such as yukata, folding fans, and various traditional local snacks from Asakusa.

3. Odaiba

Odaiba is an artificial island, and is a popular shopping and entertainment district. It actually is a set of islands built for serving as a defensive position to protect Tokyo against possible sea attacks in the Edo period.

4. Tokyo Imperial Palace

It is the main residence of Imperial Family in Japan. It is located on the former site of Edo Castle which is a large park area with moats and massive stone walls.

5. Tokyo Tower

Second tallest structure in Japan with 332.9 metres, is located in the Shiba-koen district of Minato. It is a communications and observation tower.

6. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

The building houses the headquarters of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and is also called as Tochō for short. The tourists visit this building for its observation decks at 202 meters.

7. Tokyo Disneyland
